Moon Wolf

This drawing was inspired by my sister in laws native background. Native American full moon names were established by eastern and northern tribes. Moon names are similar to the horoscope symbols as Taurus, Cancer or Libra. The Wolf Moon is for January. Said to be called the Wolf Moon because the wolves are out in the bright light this time of year – anxious and hot on the the trail for a feast to slake their hunger in the lean winter month.

This drawing measures 11"x14" and was done with pencil and charcoal. I was going to cover the area behind the moon all in black but i think it would have been too much. This way the drawing looks much more crisp and they compliment each other nicely without the dark background.
